When Her Majesty the Queen conducted the naming ceremony in her own honour in October 2010 she continued a marvellously regal formal cruising tradition.

And Cunard has maintained all the refined styling, amenities and service associated with the Golden Era of cruise sailing and added modern facilities, leisure and entertainment opportunities that today’s passengers have grown to love.

Stunning accommodation and the most exceptional fine dining you’ll ever experience at sea are highlights of the glorious Queen Elizabeth cruise ship which offers a fabulous, once-in-a-lifetime thrill for discerning passengers.

You can dance in the grand ballroom, take afternoon teas served by white-gloved waiters, watch extravagant stage shows in opulent theatre surroundings or merely relax and revitalise beside one of the two lovely main pool areas.

And one thing’s for sure, on this beautiful ship you’ll be doing it all in extreme luxury.

Entertainment and Recreation

You really can enjoy your fabulous cruise holiday at whatever pace you choose on the Queen Elizabeth with many serene and elegant areas to relax and unwind as well as fun events and exercise areas for those like to be a bit more active.

Perhaps you’ll plan your day as you browse the smart boutiques in the plush walkways that branch out from the spectacular Grand Lobby where you may also sit and sip a coffee while listening to a string quartet.

Maybe you’ll decide to keep in trim at the impressive modern gym with its panoramic ocean views, take a gentle jog round the open air running track or play a game of tennis or bowls with friends or family.

There’s always an organised dance lesson to attend or an interesting talk from a specialist guest speaker. Or you could even choose to catch one of the Cunard line’s previous celebrity guests starring in a movie classic in the cosy onboard cinema.

The Cunarders’ Place is a small museum-style room where you can learn about – and see some of the artefacts from – the Queen Elizabeth’s forerunners, a fascinating way to spend an hour or so.

You may want to take a dip in one of the two main pools or lie back and relax in a whirlpool, the choice is yours.

The Royal Spa, with its sumptuous massage and beauty treatment rooms, is the ideal place for some quality time alone and for helping you look and feel your best, possibly in preparation for a special night of high-quality entertainment ahead.

And those families with young children can be assured the kids will be well catered for, making new friends as they enjoy the party, game and competition activities organised for their various age groups by qualified youth staff.

Cunard’s renowned evening entertainment features regular themed balls in the graceful Queens Room Ballroom where you’ll try out the dancing skills you learned earlier in the day to the accompaniment of a superb dance orchestra.

And there’s more dancing at the occasional supper club events in the domed space that is the attractive Garden Lounge venue.

The brilliantly talented Queen Elizabeth Theatre Company thrills the nightly audiences at the fantastic Royal Court Theatre with an array of elaborate musical productions enhanced by glittering costumes and high-tech sound and light displays. You can reserve a private box at the theatre for an extra fee.

As evening falls the Queen Elizabeth offers an array of entertainment opportunities that set it apart from other cruise ships.

There’s karaoke in the pub-style Golden Lion bar and dancing to the resident DJ or house band at the Yacht Club night spot.

If you fancy a flutter but aren’t quite sure of all the rules, then drop into the chic Empire Casino and learn from the experts at one of the regular gaming lessons before trying your luck on the tables.

If you merely want to sit and chat, perhaps to the accompaniment of soothing jazz or light piano music, then take a seat in the themed bar of your choice where you can enjoy your favourite wine, beer, or even a cognac and a cigar.

Wining & Dining

Cunard’s proud tradition of providing the very best culinary experience anywhere at sea is certainly upheld on the Queen Elizabeth and you’ll experience its delights whichever of the categories of cabin you’ve opted for.

In the magnificent Queens Grill Restaurant you can choose from an outstanding a la carte menu and savour gourmet dishes served in immaculate surroundings by your dedicated and efficient waiter.

Your expectations will also be surpassed as you join fellow guests for the intimate single sitting at the classy Princess Grill to enjoy delicious choices from the creative an extensive menu.

Wander down the stunning staircase to take your seat in the lovely main Britannia dining room at either an early or a later sitting and still be assured of the finest food and most friendly and attentive waiter service.

The other formal restaurant, the Verandah, offers a taste of classic French cuisine with a number of innovative contemporary twists in a setting that evokes the refined ambience of the original Queen Elizabeth’s renowned Verandah Grill.

For more casual eating options you can choose from a variety of places.

The Lido is a popular choice – by day and late at night it’s a sensational buffet, in the evenings it converts to a venue for different internationally themed selections.

Gastro pub meals favourites are available at the Golden Lion and light lunchtime meals or evening dinners can be enjoyed al fresco at The Courtyard.

Guests on Cunard cruises observe formal dress codes in main restaurants at evening meal times and other occasions during the cruise.

* Many ships feature selected restaurants where additional charges apply and reservations are required.
