There’s every kind of wonderful cruise holiday experience you could ever want on the stylish Rotterdam.
Lovely, serene pool decks and swish lounges provide the perfect environment for lazy days at sea, reflecting on your most recent exciting port of call and eagerly anticipating the next.
And fascinating activities as well as high-calibre shows and live acts will keep you amused and entertained day and night.
Add Holland America’s famously friendly and attentive service and a range of great fine dining options and it’s easy to see why the classy Rotterdam continues to attract passengers who appreciate real cruising quality.
Entertainment and Recreation
Rotterdam’s two main pool areas are so spacious and elegant that it would be easy to spend all day every day just lazing and lounging.
The Lido Pool has a retractable roof so you can relax there whatever the weather, take a dip in a hot tub or soak up the sun to the sound of some soothing music.
The Resort pool is a wonderfully attractive area for relaxing and taking in the scenery, or maybe watching a movie on the large screen above the pizzeria and bar.
If you tear yourself away from the pools occasionally, you’ll find other super spaces to explore with a stunning main atrium leading you through plush walkways to an amazing art gallery and bright boutiques, as well as bars and lounges with atmospheres to suit your every mood.
A popular feature is the brilliant Culinary Arts Centre where you can watch guest chefs demonstrate gourmet cooking techniques in a state-of-the-art TV-kitchen style setting.
Other organised activities include quizzes, fun contests, wine-tasting sessions, art auctions and computer classes.
If you’re feeling a bit more active, then there’s a well-equipped and spacious gym with spectacular sea views, as well as a multi-sports area from some friendly competition.
Or, for days when you feel like some luxurious pampering in tranquil, exotic surroundings, you may want to book a beauty treatment or health therapy in the gorgeous Greenhouse Spa, or spend an hour or two unwinding in the fabulous thermal suite.
Kids have their own dedicated areas such as The Loft, a cool lounge where teenagers can hang out with people of their own age, the colourful Oasis play deck and the Club HAL computer games suite.
Qualified youth staff keep younger guests entertained with themed parties, games and competitions at which they can have fun making new friends.
As evening draws in you’ll be spoilt for choice each night, with the Rotterdam’s lounges and bars coming alive with a variety of entertainment options.
The main Showroom at Sea is a swish venue featuring talented singers, dancers and speciality acts - many of whom are straight off Broadway.
And in the ultra-modern ‘Mix’ area you’ll find three exciting bars, each offering a different vibe and a different drinks theme to cater for every taste. There’s spirits and ales, Champagne or the Martini Bar where you’ll accompanied by your favourite sing-along piano tunes.
There’s classical music in the atmospheric Explorer’s Lounge and the wonderful Crow’s Nest, which offers panoramic ocean views by day, turns into a classy show lounge and dance club later at night.
You’ll find all your favourite gaming tables and big-jackpot slot machines in the chic casino and other lounges offer the perfect environment to just chill out and chat before bedtime.
Wining & Dining
The glittering and glamorous main La Fontaine restaurant is where many passengers have most of their evening meals in the traditional cruising style of set-time sittings in the company of fellow guests. Here you’ll receive impeccable service and enjoy the finest cuisine with delicious dishes from all over the world.
You may also opt for the ‘As You Wish’ dining option and just turn up to be seated any time between 5.30pm and 9pm.
It’s even more casual in the popular Lido which offers brilliant international buffet selections throughout the day and an informal bistro-style table service in the evening. There’s also grilled food and pizzas available as well as an attractive Italian Restaurant section, Canalleto.
Rotterdam’s alternative eating venue is the plush and intimate Pinnacle Grill which offers a more personalised service and a superb menu featuring speciality prime steak and seafood dishes; great for celebrating that special occasion.
