The staggering beauty of Africa has to be seen to be believed. From the graceful lumber of an elephant to the striking vista of the sun setting over a vineyard, this is a continent that provides awe-inspiring scenery at every turn.
A huge continent, Africa is set over 8,000km and it encompasses a diverse range of people, ecology, wildlife and culture – all which you can discover on one of our cruises to Africa. Vast mountain ranges fringed with forests, a paradise of white sandy beaches, sprawling dry deserts and bustling towns and cities all make up this incredible continent.
Cape Town is one of the world’s best looking cities – set by the ocean with Table Mountain as a centrepiece, The Mother City isn’t just a looker – she has plenty of personality to lure you in with. Stroll through the colourful neighbourhood of Bo-Kaap, visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was kept prisoner, do a spot of shopping and have lunch at the Victoria and Albert Waterfront, or watch the penguins at Boulders Beach.
Victoria Falls is a spectacle not to be missed and one at the heart of many Africa river cruises. A mile-long curtain of water, this roaring beast is also known by its indigenous name of Mosi-oa-Tunya – “the smoke that thunders”. You can’t visit Africa and not go on safari. The incredible range of wildlife will leave you awestruck as you watch delicate impalas leap past, lazy lions stretched out in front of your vehicle, buffalo huffing in the midday heat and leopards peering out from dense foliage.
Food and drink are also something special here – some of the world’s best wine is produced in South Africa and a mouth-watering mix of world cuisines can be sampled from restaurants in every town and city you pass through.
