The most-famous railway journey in the world, a journey on board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is a true bucket-list adventure. Combine this with a stay in Lake Garda and a Mediterranean cruise on board the beautiful Queen Victoria and you’ve got a true Mediterranean masterpiece.
Travel to Italy encased in absolute luxury on board the exquisite Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Journey in original 1920s carriages, featuring Lalique glass panels, wood marquetry and wood burning stoves as you enjoy a series of unforgettable moments: Dine on a delicious lobster champagne brunch; relax in your opulent cabin surrounded by plush fabrics and sip a cool cocktail in Bar 3674, accompanied by the strains of the soulful pianist as glittering lights appear on the passing hillsides. A journey on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is as close to time travel as it’s possible to get.
Lake Garda awaits where you’ll spend four wonderful nights. Italy’s beautiful lakes are one of the country’s most scenic regions, where the Northern Alps tumble down into shimmering waters, dotted with silver-leafed olive trees and pretty villages. Each little town on the lake brings a chocolate box of new discoveries: a church resplendent with Renaissance frescoes, a lush botanical garden, a cable car soaring high into snow peaked mountains – there’s so much to discover.
Leaving Lake Garda behind, spend a night in the Renaissance city of Florence. Stroll down romantic streets, cross the delightfully quirky Ponte Vecchio and marvel at Brunelleschi's red cathedral dome on Piazza del Duomo. The following day, travel to Rome for the final piece of your Mediterranean masterpiece as you sweep across the Mediterranean on board the regal Queen Victoria. Discover Pisa’s magnificent Leaning Tower or see a little more of Florence in Livorno and discover medieval beauty in Alghero. Majorca’s gorgeous coast and cosmopolitan streets act as a stepping stone to Barcelona’s city full of vibrant Spanish flavour before you cruise back to Rome where you’ll disembark.
