Discover Japan

It might be the home of cutting-edge technology and soaring neon-lit skyscrapers, but tradition lies at the heart of this island nation. Ancient temples and scared shrines still draw people together to share a peaceful moment and the beauty of nature is revered and celebrated in all its seasonal glory.

From its beautifully manicured gardens that bloom with the fragile beauty of the country’s famed cherry blossom to its modern cities and world-class transport system, there is a passion for life fused with meticulous attention to detail that is both enthralling and admirable.

During this tour you’ll experience the bright lights of the city, the serenity of nature at its most beautiful and the technological modernity of this fascinating city.

Your itinerary

Mount Fuji

Departing at approximately 8.00am, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and begin your journey by private coach to Mount Fuji, enjoying the rural scenery of Japan en route. Stopping at the Visitor Centre and Lake Kawaguchiko, you’ll enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Mount Fuji and its surrounding scenery.

You’ll then drive onwards to your lunch stop, before travelling to the Hakone Ropeway Cable Car. Watch as steam spirals up from the active hot springs below you, as you travel to the Owakudani transfer station and then change cable cars and travel down to the Tognedai Station. NB Any guests not wishing to participate in the cable car ride can travel by coach to Lake Ashi where they can wait by the lake shore until the guests arrive off the cable car.

What's Included

  • Breakfast & lunch
  • Private coach transportation
  • Fully escorted Mount Fuji tour with Hakone Cable Car entry

Lake Ashi

At Lake Ashi you’ll enjoy a 30 minute boat trip across the still, peaceful water, enjoying the natural beauty of the Crater Lake. Formed in the caldera of Mount Hakone after the volcano's last eruption 3000 years ago, the vision of Mount Fuji reflected in the calm waters of Lake Ashinoko is an iconic symbol of Hakone. The lake's shores are mostly undeveloped except for small towns and a few lakeside resort hotels. Your boat trip offers some of the best views of the area in absolute peace and tranquillity, a marked contrast to the bustling streets of Tokyo.

What's Included

  • Private coach transportation
  • Boat trip on Lake Ashi

Bullet Train

As much a tourist attraction as a mode of transport, Japan's shinkansen (bullet trains), run at a maximum speed of nearly 200 miles per hour and connect almost every major city in the country. If you want an idea of just how fast these trains go, when a train exits a tunnel at top speed it sounds like a sonic boom which is thought to be powerful enough to blow a freight train over! As your tour comes to an end, your coach will take you to Odaware station where the iconic Bullet Train will whisk you back to Tokyo in just 35 minutes. You’ll then be transferred from the station back to your hotel.

What's Included

  • Bullet Train ticket to Shinagawa station (Tokyo)
  • Transfer from Shinagawa station to your hotel
