Day 3 - Santander

Located on the northern side of Spain, Santander is the capital of Cantabria and enjoys a prime location nestled between the waters of the Bay of Santander and the seas of the Bay of Biscay. Sun worshippers will love its many beaches while water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with activities. The Peninsula de la Magdalena offers a beautiful spot to enjoy a picnic while looking out for resident seals, sea lions and penguins.

Day 4 - At Sea

Spend another day enjoying the cutting-edge facilities on board Ventura. Sample the exquisite cuisine of one of the ship’s three main restaurants, take in a performance in the Havana Show Lounge with its Latin American atmosphere and salsa dancing, or just stand on deck and watch quietly as the sun disappears into the sea.

Day 5 - Vigo

Vigo lies on northern Spain’s rugged coastline in the verdant region of Galicia. This undulating city has beautiful plazas dating back to medieval times and you’ll get spectacular views of the bay from the hills above the city.  It’s also the place to find delicious fresh seafood, particularly octopus. Take the short trip to the nearby Cies Islands with their white-sand beaches and clear waters that wouldn’t look out of place in the Caribbean.

Day 6 - Lisbon (Overnight in Port)

The sun-kissed capital of Portugal gleams in the sunlight against the backdrop of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. With a skyline a watercolour palette of primrose yellow buildings topped with terracotta roofs, the pint-sized city is set across seven hills and it’s easy to explore in a couple of days thanks to a network of traditional trams. In almost all the traditional restaurants you’ll find plates piled high with olives, baskets of rough country bread and bowls of arroz de feijão, rice and beans.

Image

Day 7 - Lisbon

Enjoy a further day to explore this cosmopolitan city. Cobbled alleyways, domed cathedrals and intimate streets define Lisbon, Europe’s second-oldest capital after Athens. Found in a natural harbour, the city has attracted various different civilisations who have left a lasting mark, with its architecture and culture recalling Phoenicians, Celts, Romans, Visigoths and Moors.

Image

Day 8 - Porto

Popular little bars and narrow paved streets create this wondrous city. There are opportunities to explore but no matter what you do, you’re never far away from great architecture. You can see this when you stroll past the Bolsa Palace or Soares dos Reis National Museum, an art museum inside a classic 18th century palace. It’s also a fantastic destination for any self-acclaimed foodie, with Michelin-star restaurants, gourmet steakhouses, craft beer bars and Portuguese-style tapas joints.

Covid-19 Policy

At P&O Cruises the health, safety and well-being of their valued guests, the communities they visit and their loyal crew, is a top priority. Their health and safety practices have always been of the highest standard. As COVID-19 is still evolving, they are working closely with some of the best minds in medical science, public health and infectious disease control to understand the challenges posed by the virus and how to best mitigate its spread.

When they resume cruising, it will be with enhanced health measures developed in conjunction with government health authorities, public health experts, local ports and the Cruise Lines International Association. In addition, their intention is to restart operations with vaccination - only cruises for guests and crew. The policy will be developed once the pathway for a return to cruising is clearer, but the broad intent is to require proof of vaccination for those in the population eligible to be vaccinated at the time.

Vaccinations

All guests aged 18 years and over must have completed their vaccination course at least 14 days prior to travel. This can either be two doses of the currently approved COVID-19 vaccines or the approved single-dose Janssen COVID-19 vaccine (approved by the MHRA). A single dose of any other vaccine will not be accepted. All guests aged between five and 17 years old will need to have completed their vaccination course a minimum of 14 days prior to sailing or will require a negative PCR test within 120 hours prior to travel. Guests four years old and younger will be permitted to travel providing their travelling parents/guardians meet the above requirements.

All guests will also require a negative COVID-19 test at the terminal (the cost of which will be complimentary). As mentioned above, if you are travelling with children aged between five and 17 years old who are not vaccinated, they will need to take a PCR test within 120 hours prior to travelling to the terminal (again, this will be complimentary).

Cleaning & Sanitisation

P&O Cruises have always taken great pride in standards of cleanliness on board. Their enhanced measures ensure all areas of the ship are even more thoroughly and regularly cleaned, with products which have proven effectiveness against COVID-19. There's also added hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities available throughout the ship, reduced occupandy to aid social distancing and guests are required to wear face masks in specific areas.

All P&O Cruises ships are already fitted with HEPA air filtration in appropriate areas, but they've further enhanced existing filtration, further maximised fresh air circulation and also fitted ultraviolet light disinfection across all ships. These ship-wide upgrades to on-board air systems are based on the latest indoor air quality guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Responsible Physical Distancing

Social distancing should be practiced throughout your holiday and we’ll make this simple for you, with signs and crew on hand to help as well as additional aids such as the use of My Holiday to queue virtually, book reservations and more. If you’re travelling with friends and family (or make new friends on board), there’s no need to physically distance when dining together or meeting in a bar, watching a show or going on a shore experience. Shared tables are only available on request, otherwise you will have a table to yourself.

Masks

You’ll be required to wear a face mask that covers your nose and mouth (with no exemptions) in specific areas including the terminal, when moving around indoors on board, and when seated in the theatre. You’re free to remove your mask when seated elsewhere around the ship, when out on deck and when exercising. We’d always recommend you regularly clean your masks daily and choose a good quality, ideally medical grade, standard. Please note that visors and face shields will not be accepted as a substitute for a face mask.

Safe Shoreside Experiences

Guests will be able to go ashore independently but must adhere to the specific COVID-19 protocols in each destination. However, as restrictions in each destination are changeable, and some destinations may only allow cruise line organised experiences ashore, we highly recommend you purchase P&O Cruises shore experiences prior to travel to ensure you always have the option to explore each destination. We will arrange options for organised P&O Cruises shore experiences and health protocols such as social distancing, face masks and sanitising will be in place to protect the well-being of all guests and crew.
