Events Manager

Position – Permanent

Salary Up to £40,000 per year

Working day – Monday to Friday (9am to 5.30pm)

Based Mix of office based at Royal Wotton Bassett, Swindon, Wiltshire and remote working

Reporting to Director of Events

Established in the UK in 2011, founded by experienced travel entrepreneur and CEO Robin Deller along with co-founder Natalie Maye. Imagine Cruising are experts in creating Cruise and Stay Holidays and now selling over 60,000 holidays a year with turnover in excess of £200m and industry beating margin and profit metrics. We specialise in creating competitively priced, unique cruise packages targeted at both traditional cruisers and the “new to cruise” market.

Imagine Cruising believes in developing the knowledge, capability and skills of all staff in the company. That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

Job Purpose

As an Event Manager, you will ensure that all Imagine Cruising events both at sea or on land are planned and executed to an exceptionally high standard. You will be working alongside the Director of Events along with working closely with other a further Event Manager & Event Executive into 2022, planning and delivering events both domestically and internationally. Events will include exclusive performances from high profile singers to popular personalities. We are looking for a highly motivated and flexible individual who will lead these events & potentially manage multiple events at the same time.

Typical Activities

  • To effectively support and work closely with the Director of Events to successfully execute multiple events. Tasks include meet & greet artists, oversee rehearsals and stage/production management as well as being able to hold briefings and chair meetings with appropriate artists and staff.
  • To drive efficiency & effectiveness of events to support the strategy objectives of Imagine cruising.
  • To be able to present ideas and support the wider operational team to deliver the strategy successfully.
  • To ensure detailed event proposals & schedules are created, to include project plans, event agendas, travel manifests and budget spreadsheets.
  • To conduct post event reports on success and suggest improvement areas through internal debriefs.
  • Managing and delivering events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with event staff and event partners.
  • To manage multiple events at the same time and ensure each is a success, and if necessary, bring in extra resource as required to ensure success factor is achieved.
  • Ensure our event partners are delivering to the highest standard possible through building and nurturing relationships.
  • Budget management: to keep to budget where applicable by raising concerns to the Director of Events as and when it happens. To be creative when budget is not available to achieve a similar outcome.
  • Ensuring successful execution of all events taking into considering all contingency plans.
  • Being creative to ensure the event is on brand both in terms of look and feel and event collateral, for instance table plans, name places and event backdrops.
  • Well versed at researching, vetting and agreeing suitable venues and local event vendors.
  • Adhere to event standards set within the business and look to enhance these and make suggestions.
  • Be flexible to attend site visits when the business requires and the ability to host inspections & lead meetings, both UK and internationally.

Pre-Requisites Required

  • COVID-19: You must be double vaccinated in order to apply; in order to travel oversees & work in event venues.

Skill Set Required

  • A proven track record running successful events which include celebrities and well-known artists.
  • Strong project management skills, with a knowledge of events health & safety procedures
  • Must be adept in the use of MS Office 2000 or later
  • Must be able to travel around the UK and internationally on a frequent basis
  • Experience dealing with high end clients
  • To be able to manage event budgets within agreed costs.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as requested.
  • An independent worker, able to think for themselves, problem solve, find solutions and make quick and sound judgement calls.
  • Ability to work under pressure and keep a clear head
  • Great attention to detail
  • A great customer service ethic, putting customers first at all times
  • A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance
