Front End Developer

Position – Full Time - Permanent

Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 per year

Based – Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire

Reporting to - Global Head of IT

Established in the UK in 2011, founded by experienced travel entrepreneur and CEO Robin Deller along with co-founder Natalie Maye. Imagine Cruising are experts in creating Cruise and Stay Holidays and now selling over 60,000 holidays a year with turnover in excess of £200m and industry beating margin and profit metrics. We specialise in creating competitively priced, unique cruise packages targeted at both traditional cruisers and the “new to cruise” market.

Our Head Office is in the UK with a team of 160 and we are now trading in South Africa, Dubai, Australia, (Brisbane & Perth) a total of 300 employees.

Imagine Cruising believes in developing the knowledge, capability and skills of all staff in the company. That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

Imagine Cruising is currently pursuing an expansion strategy for our digital team. We are looking for two talented Web Developer to join our front-end development team and help us build the next generation of travel websites.

Our web development team helps major brands across the world build business critical travel websites, getting involved at all stages of the process from initial wire-framing right through to design, build and testing - making this is a truly exciting and challenging position.

Your responsibilities will include...

  • Develop new user-facing features and maintain existing
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • Promote continuous improvement within the team

Our preferred requirements...

  • Proficient understanding of web mark-up - HTML5, CSS3 using Bootstrap 4
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting - JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
  • Proficient understanding of server-side scripting - PHP
  • Proficient understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms – SASS
  • Proficient understanding of UX and graphic design principles and tools
  • Good understanding of CSS naming conventions – BEM
  • Good understanding of version control – BitBucket
  • Good understanding of web servers – Nginx and Apache
  • Good understanding of virtual servers - VirtualBox
  • Good understanding of databases - MySQL
  • Good understanding of mainstream Content Management Systems
  • Good understanding of task runners – Gulp
  • Good understanding of APIs
  • Experience of mobile first development

Great to have...

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, such as Angular, React or Vue
  • Experience with Joomla
  • Experience with AWS
