Lisbon - Hotel Stay
Fly to Portugal’s capital for a two night hotel stay. The pint-sized city of Lisbon is set across seven hills and is easy to explore thanks to a network of traditional trams. With the beach never more than a short drive away, Lisbon is a well-rounded place to enjoy a relaxing break.
Porto - Embark MS Douro Cruiser
Transfer to Porto where you’ll embark MS Douro Cruiser, a ship with a warm and inviting atmosphere. As all cabins benefit from a large panorama window or balcony with seating, you can enjoy the best views along the beautiful Douro.
Famed as the birthplace of port wine, here you could visit cellars to sample some of the sweet, fortified wine or visit Dom Luis, the Iron Bridge that spans across the Douro and connects the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Setting sail you’ll cruise to Entre-os-Rios where you’ll have the evening to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Set sail in the morning for the sun-bleached town of Régua where you’ll arrive at around midday. Here you could head to the viewpoints of São Leonardo at Galafura and Santo António do Loureiro to enjoy the spectacular views, or take an excursion to the pilgrimage site, Lamego.
Régua/Pinhão/Vega de Terrón
Setting sail from Régua you’ll travel to pretty Pinhão for a short stop. You’ll then cruise to Vega Terrón where you’ll spend the evening. Enjoy the surroundings of your ship or head to the 16th-century hilltop village of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo.
Vega de Terrón/Barca d’Alva
This morning you could take an excursion to Salamanca, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ‘golden city’ is famous for its tawny buildings, historic churches and cathedrals. You’ll then cruise to Barca d’Alva, home to the walled village of Castelo Rodrigo, one of Portugal’s ancient parishes.
Setting sail you’ll make a short stop in Pocinho, before cruising onwards to Pinhão. That evening you’ll enjoy an included excursion to a traditional Quinta on the highest plateau of the Douro Region. The estate is famous for the production of Moscatel, a Portuguese dessert wine, which has a unique flavour of oranges and honey.
Leaving Pinhão behind you’ll cruise to Porto where you’ll have the day to explore. Visit the urban centres and romantic plazas of the city, or climb the 249 steps to the top of the Clérigos Tower, offering the best views across the city.
