Carriages

The Britannic Explorer features eight elegantly designed carriages, including an observation bar car, two intimate dining cars, a wellness suite for spa treatments and five sleeper cars accommodating up to 36 guests in 18 luxurious suites. The train offers three Grand Suites with spacious living areas and marble bathrooms, alongside 15 smaller yet equally refined suites with private facilities. Designed by Albion Nord, the interiors blend Victorian elegance, Art Deco influences, and modern luxury, creating an opulent and immersive travel experience through Britain’s stunning landscapes.

Food

On board, dining is a refined culinary experience, with two elegantly designed dining cars, Malva and Samphire, each seating 18 guests for an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The menu is curated to showcase the finest British ingredients, celebrating regional flavours and seasonal produce. Expert chefs craft exquisite multi-course meals, blending classic and contemporary cuisine, paired with a carefully selected wine list. Guests can expect beautifully presented dishes inspired by the train’s journey, served in a setting that reflects the opulence of traditional British rail travel. The on-board dining experience is designed to be as memorable as the breathtaking landscapes passing by.

Wellness Suite

The Wellness Suite offers a tranquil retreat where guests can unwind and rejuvenate during their journey. Thoughtfully designed to enhance relaxation, this serene space provides a selection of indulgent spa treatments, from soothing massages to revitalising facials, all performed by skilled therapists. Inspired by British botanicals, the treatments incorporate natural ingredients to reflect the train’s connection to the landscapes it travels through.

Cabins & Suites

From the privacy of your suite, admire the English and Welsh countryside through your window as it changes hues.

The twin suites, whose blue colour scheme reflect Britain’s wild and wonderful shoreline, feature a plush twin bed setup and an en-suite bathroom. Artwork on the wall is signed by English artist and designer Luke Edward Hall. Enjoy twin beds at night and banquette seating by day.

Britannic Explorer FAQs

What do I wear on board Britannic Explorer?

For daytime excursions and relaxing on the train, we recommend comfortable clothing, including appropriate footwear. A warm, waterproof jacket is recommended, as are good walking shoes. There are formal and informal dinners, details of these are in your itinerary. For formal and Gala dinners, we recommend a dark suit and tie, tuxedo or a cocktail dress or similar evening wear. For informal dinners, a jacket and collared shirt, with or without tie, or equivalent attire.

Does the Britannic Explorer have Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is available throughout the train, however the connection may be intermittent due to some remote locations of the journey.

What luggage can I bring on board?

Cabins have limited space; therefore, we recommend each guest travels with one suitcase, a carry-on bag and a garment bag.

Are there laundry and pressing facilities on board?

Our stewards are happy to assist with pressing garments. Although there are no laundry facilities onboard, laundry services can be arranged for extended stays.

Are there electric plug sockets in my cabin?

There are electrical outlets in all cabins. Electricity in the UK runs on 220/240 volts. You may wish to bring an adaptor for electrical appliances.

Can Britannic Explorer accommodate special dietary preferences?

Special diets can be accommodated by our Chef. Please be sure to tell us in advance of any allergies, food-related or not. We will do our best to cater for special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan etc, provided a detailed request has been made at the time of booking. If a special request has not been made, the chefs will endeavor to prepare a dish with the ingredients available on board. We do, however, regret that we are unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation.
