Database Developer

Position – Full Time - Permanent

Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 per year DOE

Based – Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire

Reporting to - Head of Data

Imagine Cruising believes in developing the knowledge, capability and skills of all staff in the company. That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

We are looking to add an experienced SQL developer to the Data Team. The work will be a combination of “greenfield” project work and support of the existing Data Warehouse and reporting systems.  The Data Team support all areas of the business (globally) and have a wide-ranging remit across the business, from ad-hoc data queries through to business-transforming analytic dashboards.

The right candidate will be self-reliant, yet a good team player, with good analytical and development skills and an eye for detail, who can quickly adapt to meet flexible business needs. They will also mentor and assist members of the team who are less experienced in SQL development.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include design, code and test of SQL modules for the new project, maintenance and tuning of the Data Warehouse, ad-hoc SQL reports for both internal and external customers, investigating data anomalies & general data support.

The Candidate

Essential:

  • Good SQL design and development experience
  • Proven problem-solving abilities
  • Good attention to detail & takes initiative when needed
  • Ability to pass on skills, tips and techniques to other team members

Desirable:

  • SQL Admin experience (but we’re not looking for a full-time DBA)
  • Experience of Azure SQL Server
  • Familiarity with APIs, particularly XML and JSON.
  • Awareness of UK GDPR regulations and their worldwide equivalents.

Prior experience in the cruise/travel sector is not required.
