Events Executive

Position – Permanent

Salary £25,000 per annum

Working day – Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends as per event requirements

Based Royal Wotton Bassett, Swindon, Wiltshire

Established in the UK in 2011, founded by experienced travel entrepreneur and CEO Robin Deller along with co-founder Natalie Maye. Imagine Cruising are experts in creating Cruise and Stay Holidays and now selling over 60,000 holidays a year with turnover in excess of £200m and industry beating margin and profit metrics. We specialise in creating competitively priced, unique cruise packages targeted at both traditional cruisers and the “new to cruise” market.

Imagine Cruising believes in developing the knowledge, capability and skills of all staff in the company. That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

Job Purpose

As an Events Executive, the successful candidate will ensure that all Imagine Cruising events between are planned, supported and executed to an exceptionally high standard. You will be working closely with the Events Manager to successfully manage these prestigious events, which will include,  exclusive performances from high profile singers and personalities to managing on-stage requirements on board cruise ships for our Sailcation packages. We are especially looking for a highly motivated and flexible individual who will support on these events as well as being able to work excellently as part of a team.

Typical Activities

  • To effectively support and work with the Events Manager to successfully execute multiple events. Tasks include meet & greet artists, oversee rehearsals and stage/production.
  • To drive efficiency & effectiveness of events to support the strategy objectives of Imagine cruising.
  • To ensure detailed event proposals & schedules are created, to include timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, health and safety and staffing requirements alongside the Events Manager.
  • To conduct post event reports on success and suggest improvement areas through internal debriefs.
  • Supporting the events, where required, including welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with event staff, and organising vendors & partners where appropriate.
  • To be able to administer multiple events at the same time and ensure each is a success.
  • Assisting the Events Manager and work part of a greater team during the planning & execution of an event.
  • Planning in fine detail every stage of each event.
  • Ensuring successful execution of all events taking into considering all contingency plans.
  • Have an idea of how to brand each event space to ensure there is an identity.
  • Adhere to event standards set within the business and look to enhance these and make suggestions.
  • Be flexible to attend site visits when the business requires.

Pre-Requisites Required

  • COVID-19: You MUST be double vaccinated in order to apply; adhering to our partner cruise liner & travel protocol.
  • Must be able to work and have the majority dates free in March 2022.

Skill Set Required

  • A proven track record running successful events which include celebrities and well-known artists
  • Strong project management skills, with a knowledge of events health & safety procedures
  • Must be well versed at using MS Office 2000 or later
  • Must be able to travel around the UK, and on occasion, internationally, to undertake site inspections & execute events
  • Experience in supporting high end clients
  • To be able to manage event budgets
  • An independent worker, able to think for themselves, problem solve, find solutions and make quick and sound judgement calls
  • Ability to work under pressure and keep calm under pressure
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance
  • Exceptional communication skills
